This was our first skiing holiday, so didn’t really know what to expect.
We found the hotel to be warm and welcoming, when we first arrived in the early hours of the morning, they had put us a "packed lunch" together as we had missed our dinner. We were directed to our rooms, which we were pleased to see had great balconies overlooking the courtyard. The rooms themselves were spacious and comfy with modern clean bathroom facilities.
We went half board and found that the breakfast buffet was nice, with a varied choice, the dinner was also varied, and we were grateful for the warm food after a day on the slopes.
The facilities were also modern, clean and well kept, we used the big heated swimming pool often as well as the sauna and steam room. The hotel also has a bowling alley attached.
Across the road there’s a great "pub" if you want to watch sport and the food looked good, we found the drinks to be quite expensive in here. There is also a great Italian restaurant opposite the entrance to the hotel. Downhill there is a great Karaoke bar if you’re looking for a laugh. Going uphill towards the gondola station there is an ice ring and shops and restaurants, we found the furtherer away from the gondola station you went the cheaper the shops became. I would recommend wearing sturdy walking boots when exploring or walking to the slopes, the pavements are kept free of snow and ice but are wet and very uneven; I experienced this first hand when I hurt my ankle badly when I stood in a pothole while walking in the evening. The bar/nightclub outside the gondola station is a great place to drink, our favorite was the 10 pints of beer and a kg of chips package!
We loved the location of this hotel it’s a very short walk (uphill) to the Gondola station and surrounded by some great bars. The hotel is well kept and a nice stay.

The rooms are clean spacious and well heated, cleaned every day. They also have LCD TVs with sky , mini bar and a balcony.
Food is edible but not great, and a little repetitive.
Hotel drinks are always a little expensive, however they are cheaper than the UK, but if you shop around you will find great restaurants where you can get a pint for a Ł1.
Great week, one of the best iv had skiing. Don't hesitate, great for all ages and skills.
Bansko is a small ski area with lots of little surprises. The snow was great which is the reason we are there so no complaints.

Stayed here from the 24th-31st of January on a ski trip with friends. I was pleasantly surprised, room was large and bright, and had an LCD tv with some English channels. Bathroom was adequate, no baths though just a shower (if this is a problem for you). Food was fine if basic, there were a number of choices each night, but mostly meat dishes (normally 4 choices) this isn't the place to stay if you're a vegetarian, beer in the hotel was relatively expensive (5 lev) but there were a couple of local pubs charging around 2.50. It was about 5-10 mins to walk up to the gondola, there was a bus but we never used it. There were queues for the Gondola, up to 30 mins depending on when you went, it was best before 9 or after 11.00 to be honest. The skiing was good, we took cereal bars etc with us, so couldn't comment on the prices of lunch on the mountain.
Sorry for the length of the review, all in all a good hotel for the price in our opinion, especially if you're just looking for a base to ski from, oh and the pool was great, but be aware there is no whirlpool bath and we never saw the shower thing in the pool working.
Staff in the hotel were variable, mostly helpful, but not always the happiest, our cleaner was great though, friendly and helpful even with the language barrier.

This hotel is fairly new, 2 years old we were told, and is situated on the main road about 500 mtrs from the gondola station which is very convenient. There is a large equipment room in which to store your skis and boots which exits onto a small parking area where a mini bus is laid on to take you to the gondola ever 15 mins or so.. The hotel itself is warm, spacious and clean. However they allow people to smoke everywhere, even the restaurant, so the odour of cigarette smoke is always present and can get quite unpleasent in the evenings. Even the clothes I didnt wear during my stay smelt of smoke. The food is basic but adequate and typically eastern european. Don't expect gourmet dining. For the most part the staff seem friendly enough but again don't expect the same standards of coutesy you may find in more sophisticated western hotels. There is a nice swimming pool/ sauna and steam room area complete with a small gym although it can get busy in the early evening. There is also a bowling alley with pool tables but its not cheap, 10 lev (Ł5) each for 1 game of bowling. Drinks prices in the hotel are more or less equivalent to UK prices. Overall the Strazheite is a basic hotel in but with the advantage of being in a good location for the skiing.

1st visit to bansko on 27th Jan for 1 week, will go back to it and would use this hotel again. Afraid over a year on from some comments and the food is still not great. Situated near gondola ideal if skiing.Sort out food this will be a brill hotel

If you are booking the Strazhite (or like us were cancelled from another hotel due to a double booking, in our case the Tamplier Apartments) then have no fear. Other than the Kempinsky Grand Arena (5*) this is probably the best hotel you will find in Bansko.

First the good bits: v well located and easily walkable to the Gondola (5-10 mins), though they do offer a shuttle service, every half hour (Top tips: this runs from the side of the hotel, not the front. At the side entrance you will also find excellent ski and boot storage courtesy of the hotel). Rooms are spacious, and if a family booking consider taking the excellent split level apartments as we did. Staff very courteous. Rooms and communal areas kept very clean and warm. Drinks were reasonably priced and even the hotel room mini-bar was affordable (a first anywhere!)

Now the not so perfect bits: Top of the list food: its plentiful but lacking in flavour and the buffet mass-catering approach delivers a significantly less than 4* experience. We prefer to eat local food and were pleased that the dinner menu features Bansko typical dishes rather than the dreaded "international cuisine" . However, you will find better cooked and flavoursome food in some of the local eateries (which you should venture out to anyway!). Second: the swimming pool-it's a good size but not warm enough. Coupled with the fact that there isn't a spa/whirlpool bath (nor a bath in our room) it was difficult to warm away the aches and pains of skiing. Sorely missed facilities! (but a half hour massage was good value my wife informs me). Finally, like everywhere in Bulgaria, there are not enough concessions to non-smokers. Smoking is permitted in each of the bars and restaurant, which is a great shame for asthmas sufferers and unwilling passive smokers such as ourselves. We can only hope that attitudes change and will vote with our feet where the opportunity arises.......hotels/bars wake up please!

In summary: Better than we expected, and with the obvious improvements, could be perfect.

My family & I stayed at the Strazhite Hotel in Bansko in February this year.
I feel I should write a review as I have yet to see one on this superb hotel. What can I say? The location of the hotel is great, just 100m (if that) from the gondola station and the same again to the bars and shops. A free shuttle service runs daily from the hotel to the gondola (saves ya carrying ya ski's/boards) and brings you back to the hotel after a great day on the slopes. The hotel has a great pool, steam room and sauna with the option to have a massage (well worth the Ł8 trust me). Table tennis is also available for a small deposit and there is a great ten pin bowling alley downstairs with arcades. The meals are buffet style and after reading what others have said about food in Bulgaia I was very surprised, it could get boring if staying longer than a week but there is enough variety for your tastebuds if you are there for a week. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are lovely, very spacious and very clean. I do not have a bad word to say about this hotel & will most definately be returning in future. The people of Bansko are a credit to the town, very genuine & very friendly.

Great hotel near to village centre. Rooms
nicely furnished, lovely restaurant with a
good selection for all diets. Would go back to this hotel again
