Tourist trips rise 5.6% in 2009

Tourist trips in the country and abroad increased 5.6% in 2009, year on year. National Statistical Institute data show that a total of 1.334 million people aged above 15 years travelled last year. Trips in Bulgaria increased 11.6%, foreign trips surged 26.4%.
The people aged 25 to 44 years were the most active travellers: 45.9% of them went on holiday or visited relatives. At the opposite extreme were the people aged above 65 years, only 7.3% of whom went on a trip.
