The medieval church ‘ St George’ in Kyustendil attracts more tourists from different parts of the country. This was announced by the chairman of the Regional Historical Museum - Kyustendil Valentin Debochichki. According to him, we need a clear plan in order to seek an opportunity to attract tourists who used to travel to the holy places, Christians in neighbouring Macedonia who pass through Kyustendil. "Although the medieval complex was completed, there is still much to be desired in order to attain visible improvements," said Debochichki. He pointed out that the entire area should be properly illuminated, especially during autumn and winter months, and they need to find some ways to design a specialized lighting. Moreover, the iconostasis should be exquisitely accomplished and this will lead to the overall completion of the church’s appearance. "We cannot neglect the insignificant issue of the permanent maintenance of the churchyard and the whole complex," said Valentin Debochichki. He said that now the yard looks very good, but it needs some maintenance to keep its current condition.
