The resort is famous for its remains of ancient settlement, Roman baths and several Christian churches.
Conversely to the other populated settlements in the Roman province of Thrace during these ancient ages, the settlement at the warm mineral springs (today Hissar) evolved to an important polis in III – IV c. AD. In IV c. AD, during the rule of the Roman emperor Diocletian, the polis was surrounded with wide fortress walls, the ruins of which are on display today. The Hotel organizes visits to the Thracian cult center in the nearby village of Starosel.
