The Lion hotel is a lovely hotel with a great spa . The staff are very friendly and food is to a good standard . My only suggestion would be to have the heating on constant but lower instead of on timer .

This is the second time that we have stayed at a Lion hotel (previously in Bankso). We stayed as a family of 5, with 3 teenagers. We found the hotel to be welcoming and friendly, staff were great (especially the bar staff) food was amazing (we didn't eat anywhere else) there was always a great variety, as a vegetarian I often struggle, but I was spoilt for choice. The setting is beautiful and we enjoyed the 10 minute walk to the slopes, even though a regular free shuttle bus runs every 20 mins from the hotel door. The hotel spa and pool facilities were amazing, there is much to do even as a non skier. We will be rebooking at the Lion for next year.

Тъй като не за първа година съм в този хотел, считам че с всяка година качеството на стаите и обслужването намалява. От друга страна цените се покачват неоснователно според мен. Имаше моменти тази година, когато стаите бяха студени, нямаше топла вода. Имаше проблеми с душовете и въобще като цяло стаите не отговарят на стаи в хотел 4 звезди. Също така барманите в лоби бара се държат крайно неуважитилено , особено към българските гости на хотела и определено се заяждат.
Сервитьорите в ресторанта също не отговарят на качествата, които трябва да притежават сервитьор в 4-звезден хотел. Много често при отсервиране изпускаха посудата и създаваха дискомфорт на гостите.
Считам също за напълно неоснователно , че гостите на хотела, пристигнали с коли, трябва да плашат 10 лв.такса за паркинг на ден. Същото важи и за таксата за халати.
Спа център също беше под всякаква критика тази година-вмирисан и непочистван редовно. С всичко гореизброено бих направила компромис, ако се отнасяше за хотел с по-малко звезди и съответно по-ниска цена. Но за хотел 4 звезди ми се струва недопустимо.
Все пак имаше и положителни моменти. Доволна останах , аз и моето семейство от разнообразието на храната в ресторанта, както и обслужването на момчето в ски гардероба-винаги усмихнат , приветлив и готов да помогне.

We stayed earlier in the year when the hotel was full and the food was excellent. We stayed again this pre Christmas when the hotel had less people and the food was very limited and certainly not what we expected. However, the staff were excellent and helped me use my own food to supplement the hotels limited menu. I will check before we book again to see if the normal buffet will be provided.

Due to the small number of guests, we did not have a buffet, but ordered from a very modest menu, where soup was not offered.
The heating did not work, we used the heater in the room.
The SPA was ok.

We love everything apart the mini supermarket ( the lady in the shop always cheat on prices and try to force you to buy stuff you don’t need , the worse bit she does that to children too , if you give child 10lev and ask to buy a bottle of water that will comeback with no change and lots of sweets!!! Can’t believe hotel management tolerate that as that is the only downside of the place :( )at the lion hotel .
Staff, food , pool , lobby bar , spa are all amazing .
Shuttle is great , walk through the forest very pleasant , play room for kids always enjoyed by our daughter .
Rooms are cosy snd comfortable and just could do with a shower screen over the bath .
We will be back next year :)

Away from the main resort The Lion is perfect. Staff are superb, the Spa is incredible and the service far better than expected. Our first time not in the resort and I doubt I'd go back. We walked most days, whilst the shuttle service was often used by our kids.

We recently returned from 2 weeks stay at the Lion hotel in Borovetz - our third time at the hotel.
Shortly before the end of stay the impact of Coronavirus struck the resort and the hotel but the hotel staff and management did everything they were permitted to do to provide for us.
Up to that point the facilities, food, bar service and rooms were first class and I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

The shuttle service is excellent, personnel friendly and helpful. Good food, although the sweets are not good.
The rooms are big and clean. Suggestion: safes in the rooms would be useful.
Also, as a suggestion, it would be very nice to light all the fireplaces at the second floor.

Although the staff were great and in general we had a lovely holiday here we are confused as to why we had such inferior rooms compared to our friends. We booked 3 rooms for 5 people but were with friends who also booked the same day as us (20.1.19) -another family of 5 in 2 rooms and a family of 4 in 2 rooms. They had much more spacious rooms with bedside tables, sofa, a shelf in bathroom etc. one even had a balcony. My husband and I were in 402 which is a very small room. This should have been allocated to our son on his own as a single. We also had 416 and 418 but these were still not as good as rooms of our friends. (333 and 335 were two of the rooms) Would not stay here again but I do feel the hotel was of good decor and with mostly great staff.

We love the staff at the hotel but the infrastructure needs to improve. The beds are uncomfortable and the rooms are very poorly insulated so you can hear everything that goes on in the corredor and next door. The shuttle service is also not reliable if the hotel is fully booked as there is far too many people for one shuttle every 20 minutes. We had to either wait for the next shuttle or walk a number of times.

New year eve's dinner quality is very poor. Steak is the restructured beef. Entrance no any tasting. Not eatable and drinkable dinner. Pay much but the soft drinking is not all you can drink, need to pay extra for the coca cola or water.
Room cleaning service. Very bad. One day found the cleaning rag on the tv table, another day found the garbage bag with dirty stuffs on the table in bathroom.
Two daughter got the head lice on their hairs during the period we stayed.
Not recommend at all. Will never go back again.

Hotel in good location, 1km to slopes and bars / restaurants. Hotel provide a good shuttle service which takes about 10 mins throughout the day. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Restaurant has a high standard of cleanliness with a good selection of food. Hotel bar is well stocked with a very good standard of service. Hotel staff in lobby bar and restaurant are very efficient and friendly but some reception staff could benefit from customer relation training - a very nice hotel overall.

Loved my week long stay at Lion Hotel in Borovets. Perfect for an affordable skiing trip. Rather than a hindrance, the short distance between the Hotel and Borovets (and its slopes) is in fact ideal as it allows you to disconnect from the noise and people and relax in a spa-type environment in the middle of the woods. The bus connecting the two is very decent. The hotel atmosphere is also warm and welcoming, and it is easy to get on with the other guests. The swimming pool, sauna and resting room are all great too. As for the hotel's staff, nothing to say, they do a great job.
One small recommendation: perhaps creating a bigger room for ski equipment would be a good addition.

Bad - Booking system is old and not efficient.
Staff at desk are not friendly or helpful.
Shuttle Bus Service is not good between 08:30 & 09:30.

We could not fault our stay in February
Find was excellent , varied during the week plus drinks over dinner ensured we stayed and then went to the bar afterwards .
Shuttle bus was excellent , rooms were nice and warm and cleaned daily .

Second visit to this hotel and very happy with our stay. Staff are very helpful and the atmosphere in the hotel is calm and homely. Out of town location (10 mins walk) with shuttle service to the main ski lift. Our room was a good size with view towards mountains but some rooms we understand are smaller so worth extra if staying more than a few days.

the hotel staff especially Radi behind the bar are amazing and the spa area is incredible.

A fantastic hotel. Always polite staff and helpful. Rooms spotless and clean. A good variety of foods for evening meal and breakfast was perfect for a days skiing. A really nice bar area downstairs and upstairs. Good value drinks and pancakes for the kids on your return. Perfect location for skiing with a free shuttle bus into town. Nice pool and chill out pods to read and relax. This hotel is with every penny.

Lovely hotel, location quiet. Minibus to town was ok but could have been every 10 mins at peak times ( I stayed during February half term, full hotel) having to get nearly 30 people into a 16 seater minibus not ideal. 20 mins was the stated times but seemed longer!
Food was average buffet style, good selection of average food!
Duvets were slightly too narrow for my liking, and not overly soft.
The spa area was superb and also the lobby bar was excellent, especially Radi the barman who was fantastic and looked after us very well.

This is our second time here. The rooms are comfortable and clean,and are serviced regularly by friendly hardworking staff. The spar,sauna and pool areas are superb and always kept clean. Other facilities are excellent and the staff are very professional and helpful. The bar and restaurant have a cosy feel, staff are always on hand and very proficient. The choice of food is amazing, something for everyone and always fresh and tasty. The shuttle service into town is regular and efficient and only a few minutes journey. we did not use the hotels ski service so cannot comment.

I had a magical stay at Lion Borovets Hotel. I was most impressed by the varied selection and quality of the food in the breakfast and dinner buffets. This far exceeded my expectations. I am a vegetarian and so the large amount of vegetarian options were very welcome. Thank you.
On New Years Eve, however, there was no option for vegetarian offered to me, even though I had made it known beforehand. When I enquired from the waitress, she told me that there was "no changing". I therefore did not get to eat at the New Year's Eve celebration meal.
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff were happy to come and clean my room later when I wasnt there which I appreciated.

We were very pleased with the hotel. My only issue was that at the end of the stay we were told we had used 2 dressing gowns and the minibar when we hadn't. However, the lady on the front desk was very nice and rectified it straight away. So I can't complain about that.

Had a great stay at the Lion Hotel. Enjoyed every meal and found something to suit everyone. Quiet surroundings but not too far from the slopes using the shuttle bus. Best value in Borovets.

Nice hotel with good quality facilities. A bit far from the slopes which is a pain for waiting for shuttles but they were frequent enough in peak hours. Profi tours company was poorly organised - did not send out details of where to meet / register to pick up skis. Detail was allegedly available when booking - no one has access to the booking page weeks after booking a holiday! Send it in the email!

This is my 3rd stay at the Lion Hotel, so I think that says something. The food is plentiful and varied. The public areas are beautifully clean and maintained to a high standard. The bedrooms are spacious, bathroom was good too, I have never stayed in a hotel where there is so much hot water! The bar deserves special mention.... watch out for Stolany, great chap :) there is a beautiful open fire there too. The hotel is situated outside of town in a picturesque wooded area. It is a lovely 20 min walk to the gondola, but the hotel provides a free shuttle to the lope throughout the day. All in all, I cannot find fault, cannot wait for my next stay

Third time on holiday in this hotel, my only complaint would be that the beds are not the most comfortable and are quite low, although they did change the mattress as soon as I complained. Otherwise, great hotel.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and warm with good facilities. There is a shuttle bus to the main gondola regularly but we walk to loosen the joints before skiing (its an age thing). This was my second year and I took my son (21) and friend (49) they were both impressed, the buffet food can be a bit too cool but is always nice and we will be back next year.

Excellent time, staff very helpful and the rooms were comfortable with nice hot showers. Food was good except there was a problem with the butter. It would be good to have tea & coffee in the rooms. 😊

We stayed at the Lion from the 7th of Feb 2015 for 7 nights, the hotel is large and clean, the rooms were big enough - we had 4 adults in 2 large twin rooms (2 in each).
The rooms are advertised as doubles, this wasn't an issue as it was 4 guys and i prefer my own bed to spooning a dude.
The breakfast and evening buffet were ok, plenty of food, few varieties to choose from, but i wasnt a fan of much there.
The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the gondola, another few minutes up the hill to the 4 man chair lift by the hotel Rila.
The shuttle bus is great on the way out, drops you a minute from the gondola, on the way back after 4pm its regular, if you want to come back before 4pm, we found that the only time they ran was if someone was coming from the hotel... if there is no outbound trip needed, they seem to stay at the hotel, but its only a 10 minute walk back.
I think the only downside for me was the amount of local kids there...noisy little sh*** even in the early hours of the morning.
overall, great stay!
will be returning to Borovets next year!

Everything was ok. We were enjoying in every day spent in this hotel. The staff was very friendly and we didn't have any problem while our staying. I would recommend to anyone. We will come in this hotel next year, for sure.

The Lion was an excellent hotel located just a few minutes from the ski resort.
The room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and plenty of pillows and blankets.
The minibus service was prompt and runs until 6pm. At 10 BGL (~Ј4), regular taxis offered an out of hours service into town which takes just a couple of minutes. Town is 10-15 minutes on foot.
The facilities in the basement (comprising: pool, gym, steam room, saunas, beauty spa) is excellent and I wish we had found it earlier in our stay, as we would have used it more. It is beautifully decorated and well equipped. Spa prices are reasonable with a wide range of treatments available. Perhaps pictures of the spa and pool could have been placed in reception as it took me by surprise when I found it on day 6. I had expected a couple of old saunas and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the facilities.
The staff are very friendly and could not have been more helpful.
The food was ok, particularly considering the price. The Christmas dinner was excellent.
My only two slight criticisms would be as follows:
1. The temperature in the bar and lobby were sometimes far too hot. My best guess is that they reached 30C or more. The rooms also got very hot in the evening. An in-room thermostat would probably save the hotel money, as many guests (I suspect) would turn the heating down.
2. The lighting in the upstairs bar is very dim. We sat upstairs a couple of times on an evening to play cards with the kids or read a book and many (50%+) of the seats are almost in the dark making it difficult to do these things. Some table or free-standing lamps would have been great.
On balance, I would stay at the Lion again without hesitation and recommend it to anyone visiting Borovets.
Thank you for making our first ski holiday so pleasurable.

Great hotel, not as good as last year, booked a double room, only had a twin room for us. Tea and coffee facilities are not available in your room, but apart from that we will be going back next year.

1. Меня никто не встретил у такси и не поднял по лестнице в номер мои чемодан,сумку и лыжи.
2. Мне дали номер на 4 этаже. Меня это устраивало. Потом, без моего согласия перевели на 2 этаж, на котором было много номеров с детьми и шумно.
3. Комната для хранения собственного инвентаря (бесплатная) очень маленькая и не оборудована для хранения. Та комната, которая оборудована для хранения, только за плату.

Hotel is good. Good value for money, with excellent food, environments, spa and other facilities. Only big down side is very bad beds, they are probably old and lumpy and need changes as soon as possible. All advantages and good sides are going down if guests cant have proper rest during night. Also third foildable bad was almost unusable. Also big down side was very unpleasant male receptionist. He was very rood and unpolite every time I saw him during stay and during check out. Even it was hard for him to say thank you or even greet. All other staff was very ok, from other fimale receptionists and another yung man there, to waiters, cleaning ladies, etc.
