Bansko- new winter capital of the Balkans

We are pleased to announce that the picturesque mountain resort Bansko, a renowned ski venue, was officially proclaimed as the winter capital of Balkans. This was announced by the press center of Bansko municipality. The prestigious prize was bestowed at a ceremony within the framework of the International Fair of Tourism in the Serbia city Novi Sad. The ceremony was held on 30th of September. The proposal for the prestigious award was made by the Balkan Association of Hotel and Restaurants. The honorary prize was given by the Mayor of Bansko Alexander Kravarov in the presence of over 1 000 guests.
Mr. Kravarov pointed out that although the municipality faced some criticism and resolved many issues, the present appearance and conditions in Bansko are positively assessed by all guests. According to Kravarov, the prestigious recognition obliges Bansko to be an excellent host of the starts of the World Ski Cup men 2011.
Actually, all ski facilities are being prepared on this important occasion. It is planned that 4-seat lift will be replaced by 6-seat one and trails will turn into lifts. Starts of the World Ski Cup will be broadcasted at 30 world televisions and the competition will be shown live on 14 of them. Currently, Bansko boasts 75km ski runs, 180 artificial snow making machineries and a comfortable hotel base. Nearly 4 billion EUR have been invested in Bansko and apparently this yields positive results. According to Mr.Ragin, the prestigious award is a positive advertisement of Bulgaria.
