Assenova fortress welcomes now visitors

Assenovgrad municipality has finished the activities within the project “Assenovgrad – the sacred portal in Rhodopes”. The mayor has officially opened the restored historic complex. The project has been completed and it took 2 years to finish it. The project is estimated at nearly 3 million BGN.
All changes are made in order to ensure that tourists have enough safety. Tourists will like the miniatures of medieval towers and weapons. The Assenova fortress has preserved the spirit of the times during the reign of one of the most successful Bulgarian kings, Tsar Ivan Assen II.
