Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov presented scientific information for the completed and future works on the archaeological spots Perperikon and Tatul near Karjali.
“For the time being, 220 000 BGN were invested in the conservation of the sites and nothing is allowed to be destroyed”, said the renowned archaeologist. He provided photo evidence on the most recent achievements.
Prof. Ovcharov informed that a new project between Bulgaria and Greece, estimated at 2,6 million BGN, has begun, and he also added that Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov will turn the first sod of the ambitious project near the ancient places in March.
If the project is successfully fulfilled by the end of 2010, Bulgaria will boast one of its best monuments of ancient culture, which will be also a world monument of culture. A museum and visitors center will be constructed as well.
