The bad thing about this hotel is that permanently big black expensive cars and the bentley of the owner are parked in front, making entering almost impossible. Around these cars stand wide- shouldered, short haired low-brow armed guards. They wait their bosses who gather in the basement for sure discussing `big deal`with local and national leftwing politicians. So, if you want to avoid being shot one day, stay away from the lobby.

This hotel is in the centre of Varna, a short walk from the main shopping area and the sea gardens. It's perfect for a quality, short break to the city.
We found the service from the hotel faultless. At arrival we were greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist who spoke great English.
Our room was large and extremely well appointed with modern fittings. It was fully air conditioned and offered a free wired broadband connection. Free wi-fi was also available in the lobby.
Unusually the breakfast (included in the room rate) was a la carte rather than buffet style. The menu was extensive and nothing was too much trouble. This really added to the experience and made the stay special.
In the lobby area there is a good bar, offering drinks/snacks. Here the service was also exceptionally good and the prices very reasonable.
Room service was also excellent. A request for an iron was granted within 90 seconds - amazing given we were on the 3rd floor!
Overall, this hotel fully delivers to its well deserved 4 star rating. It offers great value for money, super rooms and exceptionally good service. If you are looking for a great stay in Varna, you simply cannot go wrong with this superb hotel.

I visit bulgaria on business every month and have stayed in many of varna's premier hotels,on one of these visits i was fortunate enough to stay at the capitol,i would not now consider staying anywhere else. The staff are warm and friendly ,the food is great and the hotel is situated close to all amenities.I also bring business associates and customers who also are of the same opinion ,therefore i would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good value 4* accomodation Lawrie de Ste Croix

We stayed at the Capitol for 3 nights in September 2006 before moving into an apartment we had bought just up the coast at Alen Mak. The staff were brilliantly helpful from start to finish. Bar and reception staff could not have done more for us, arranging taxis and giving us maps and information about the city. The restaurant, though more expensive than most in Varna (but still very reasonable by UK standards), was excellent with attentive waiters who also knew about the very good wine list. At the end of our stay at our apartment, we wanted to spend the day in the city before catching our evening flight back to the UK. Even though we had moved out of the hotel several days previously, the receptionist raised no objection at all to looking after our luggage for the day.
Also, don't believe what people tell you about Bulgarian rudeness - it may happen but we never witnessed it at all. Instead, we met delightful people who genuinely seemed to welcome foreigners buying property in their country. And it's a truly beautiful country too.

Our room was large, the bed comfortable and the front office people were very attentive. Parking in the basement of the hotel was handy. We were allowed to use a PC located in a conference room in order to check E-mail and use the internet.
As we departed Varna on an early morning flight, the staff had a breakfast ready for us before the normal opening hour. Nice touch, I thought.
The Capitol Hotel is well located within walking distance of the splendid Archaeological Museum, a must for those visiting Varna, and the Sea Park that overlooks the Black Sea.
