My husband and I are in the midst of a three-day stay at Budapest Hotel. I literally gasped when I walked into the room... we got a corner room (worth the extra $$) on the 4th floor with huge windows looking out into the streets. The decor is fancy-modern, very hip and a little different. Such a nice change from generic hotel chains! They include little extras in the bathroom, such as bath salts and shoe shine. The bathroom is the nicest we have seen in our stay here in Bulgaria - modern efficiencies and even a proper bath-shower so the water doesn't flood the room as with most other accommodations.
Front desk staff speaks solid English, which was helpful to us. We booked the room via booking.com, and the hotel allowed us to pay when we check out, so we are going to see if we can use the rest of our leva toward the fee.
We came into Sofia from Plovdiv via the bus station, and this hotel is conveniently located a few blocks though not convenient to the city center.
Price-wise, we are definitely paying more than we need to for a decent hotel in Sofia, but it seems worth the splurge. I love our room and the atmosphere here; it's perfect for our last days of vacation in Bulgaria.
I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is rated as a three star but it came with five star service. The staff spoke excellent English and went out of their way to help. It was the little things like offering us coffee while waiting in the lobby, providing up to date Internet news printouts, to offering to shuttle us to the nearby central bus station.
The food in the restaurant was exceptional. In fact, it is worth staying here for the food alone. The chilli mango pork with Ginger rice, spicy Hungarian goulash and creamy pumpkin soup with coconut and gin were to die for. It is easily the standard of top quality restaurants in my home country of Australia.
Rooms were very very spacious, clean and modern. I was very surprised at the quality of this hotel.
Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and I just loved it!!nice big rooms, clean bathroom, very helpful personnel, good breakfast ,and the rates we paid with booking on internet were very good comparing with the ones the hotel actually has.. so book it online if you ever go there!the only problem we had was that everytime we took a shower the bathroom was kind of floating, I guess they have some problems with the plumming but i really don't care about that..although it is situated on a busy street the windows are sound-proof but still you can feel the vibrations from an old tram which passes by..the neibourghood looks a little bit frightning but don't worry, it is safe and it is about 10 minutes away from city center but I didn'm mind walking; anyway, people say there is a tram to the center, too..or you can take a cab for 2-3 minutes which will cost you about 2-3 leva..overall a good experience...oh, I almost forgot, the wifi internet works amaizing!!!

The reason I will not stay in this hotel again is that I ended up starving on Saturday and Sunday night but I could not eat anything in the hotel because they told me the kitchen is closed during the weekends.
Other than that the room is large and new, free wifi with good bandwidth in the rooms and the lobby but not in the restaurant, central "carrier" air conditioner system works fine, water pressure fine, hot water works fine, the personnel is friendly and willing and the breakfast is good but the lobby and the restaurant are very small and could be easily crowded. The hotel is at the "wrong" side of the city 10-20 mins fast walking from Sheraton through no man's land but it is near a modern railway station that I guess connects to other cities. Finally there is a vibration/noise effect from the old tram wagon that passes outside of the hotel every now and then even at nights.

On the whole the hotel was fine and the location was not a problem. The breakfast was poor – the croissants were stale, and the toaster had disappeared on our last morning! The lady working in the restaurant couldn’t speak much English so was not able to help with this.
The room had everything you would need – the only problem being the noise: trams going past & dogs barking every night meant falling asleep took a little longer than it should. The fact that we were exhausted meant the noise was not too much of an issue.
Overall considering how much the rate is the hotel was satisfactory. If i was to return to Sofia I would consider paying a little more for a better location.

Very new, nicely decorated and with very friendly and attentive personnel. It largely surpasses the expectations you would have for a 3-star hotel in Sofia, but it is comparable, if not better to higher category ones in the city and for a reduced price.
