The main issue I had was that the room and en-suite were in poor condition. Badly cleaned, no A/C, and limited facilities. I subsequently stayed at the Novetel in Plovdiv, and, although this was not great, value for money was far superior to Trimontium Princess.

Hotel stay ( 2 nights) was part of a tour package. We were allocated a kingsize bedded room - bed was a 5 foot father than 'proper' king size 6 and quite firm. The room - on a corner of the building had huge windows and a small balcony - was of good size with sofas, room air-con was not the most efficient and was noisey. The bathroom was elongated and awkward .Furnishings in the very spaceous public areas were good. The large outside swimming pool was out of use and empty, the small inside one was cold but plush.Although situated on a main road the hotel was generally quiet (including the bedroom). First impresson was clean but moving the furniture to vacume didn't seem a high priority. Breakfast was reasonable - all the basics were there, but not many surprises - and they still serve orange squash instead of juice. Service in the bar next to the Casino entrance was slow but prices reasonable. I did not use the casino. Overall the staff were quite friendly and typically for Bulgaria the 'younger' ones spoke good english.

When I visited this hotel it was undergoing an expansion making a nice roof pool. So I guess this is an added value to the hotel now.
The reception area was excellent with enough lounge areas, a coffee shop and other stores. The casino I did not visit.
The staff was great and the rooms were spacious and offered enough amenities (minibar as well) and were clean. Transportation was easy as there were always taxis outside the hotel waiting. A very pleasant hotel although a bit pricey.

The Trimontium is a nice hotel overall, however it is hugely overpriced these days. Like many hotels in Sofia, it has raised its prices considerable over the last year. I stayed here last year at the same time and the price has now almost doubled.
I much preferred the Kendros Hotel in Plovdiv. The rooms were bigger and more spacious. The service was better and the price was half of what is was in the Trimontium. You are paying for the location more than anything. I would rather pay for quality of accomodation and service. That is why I recommend the Kendros over the Trimontium.
